Who is Dirk Brossé?

Dirk Brossé is a Flemish Belgian composer and conductor. Since 1999 Brossé is Musical Host of the International Flanders Film Festival in Ghent and he held also the title of Music Director of the Tokyo International Music Festival. He currently conducts The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia where he was named conductor in 2010, after two "Guest Conductor" appearances with the Chamber Orchestra in 2008 and 2009.

Brossé is best known for his collaborations with Belgian director Stijn Coninx. He composed the music for Coninx's Hector, Koko Flanel, Daens, When the Light Comes and De Kavijaks. Dirk Brossé is also known for conducting the music for the movies Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and The Good Thief and the television series Parade's End, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award. In 2009, Dirk Brossé conducted John Williams's original music for Star Wars: In Concert.
