Who is Don Cravins, Jr.?
Donald R. "Don" Cravins, Jr. is a Democratic politician from the State of Louisiana.
In the 2008 elections, Cravins unsuccessfully ran as the Democratic candidate for Louisiana's 7th congressional district seat held by Republican U.S. Representative Charles Boustany, Jr. In addition to Boustany, Cravins also faced Constitution Party candidate Peter Vidrine. Boustany defeated Cravins.
Cravins previously served as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2004 through 2006, having represented District 40. When he was elected, he and his father, then Senator Don Cravins, Sr., made Louisiana history by becoming the first father and son duo to serve in the Louisiana Legislature at the same time. Don Cravins, Jr. later won a seat in the Louisiana State Senate, where he represented the 24th district from December 2006 until January 2009.
In a letter dated January 4, 2009, Cravins announced his resignation as State Senator to take a position as Staff Director and Chief Counsel of the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Cravins currently serves as chief of staff to Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La. Cravins also serves as a Judge Advocate in the Louisiana Army National Guard assigned to the 225th Engineering Brighep here. He also visited St. Augustine Catholic school.
