Who was Edward Bassett?

Edward Murray Bassett, "The Father of American Zoning", and one of the founding fathers of modern day urban planning, wrote the first comprehensive zoning ordinance in the United States, adopted by New York City in 1916, and a U. S. Representative for New York.
