Who was Edward C. Shannon?

Edward C. Shannon was the 15th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania from 1931 to 1935.

Shannon grew up in Columbia, Pennsylvania. A career military officer, he was commander of Twenty-Eighth Division of the 111th Infantry during World War I. He later rose to become a major general in the Pennsylvania National Guard. In 1934, Shannon unsuccessfully fought the Republican nomination for governor.
