Who was Edward Percy Moran?

Edward Percy Moran was an American artist known for his scenes of American history.

He was born in Philadelphia to Edward Moran, a notable artist who immigrated to the United States from England. He studied under his father and at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and National Academy of Design. He was a painter of historical American subjects and examples of his work are in many prominent collections. He died in New York City in 1935.

His brother Leon Moran, and his uncles Peter Moran and Thomas Moran, and his cousin Jean Leon Gerome Ferris, also were prominent American artists.
