Who was Edward Sparrow?
Edward Sparrow was a prominent Confederate States of America politician.
Sparrow was born in Dublin, Ireland. He represented Louisiana in the Provisional Confederate Congress from 1861 to 1862. Sparrow was a deputy in the Provisional Confederate Congress. He was a Senator from Louisiana in both the First Confederate Congress and the Second Confederate Congress, serving from 1862 to 1865.
He was the wealthiest man in the Confederate Government. The 1860 Census cites his wealth at $1.2 million, which would be comparable to being a billionaire today.
