Who was Edward Sprot?
Edward Mark Sprot was a Scottish cricketer who played 270 first-class cricket matches for Hampshire. He was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace.
Sprot captained Hampshire between 1903 and 1914. During his career he scored 12,328 runs at 28.66 as well as taking 55 wickets at 33.90. His cricket career came to an end with the onset of the First World War.
Sprot died aged 73 in Lower Bourne, Surrey.
