Who was Elizur H. Prindle?

Elizur H. Prindle was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born in Newtown, Connecticut, Prindle completed preparatory studies. He attended the local academy at Homer, New York. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1854 and practiced. He moved to New York and practiced law in Norwich, Chenango County. He was district attorney of Chenango County, New York from 1860 to 1862. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1863; and a delegate to the New York State Constitutional Convention of 1867–68.

Prindle was elected as a Republican to the 42nd United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1871, to March 3, 1873. He resumed the practice of law. He died in Norwich, New York, October 7, 1890. He was interred in Mount Hope Cemetery.
