Who was Erik Elmsäter?

Fritz Erik Elmsäter was a Swedish athlete who competed mainly in the 3000 metre steeple chase.

He competed for a Sweden in the 1948 Summer Olympics held in London, Great Britain in the 3000 metre steeple chase where he won the silver medal.

Elmsäter also competed at the 1952 Winter Olympics, finishing 13th in the nordic combined event and 56th in the 18 km cross country skiing event, becoming the first Swede to compete in both the Summer and Winter Olympics. He finished ninth in the Nordic combined at the 1948 Winter Olympics.
