Who is Erik Spoelstra?
Erik Jon Spoelstra is a Filipino-American professional basketball coach and the current head coach of the National Basketball Association's Miami Heat. A Filipino-American through his mother's side, he is the first Asian American head coach in the history of the four major North American sports leagues and the first Asian American head coach to win an NBA championship.
From 2001 to 2008, he served as assistant coach and director of scouting for the team. In his first five seasons as head coach, he has guided the Heat to five consecutive playoff appearances, including trips to the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NBA Finals, winning the championship in both 2012 and 2013.
