Who was Ernst Gennat?
Ernst August Ferdinand Gennat was director of the Berlin criminal police. He worked under three political systems in his 30 years career as one of the most gifted and successful criminologists in Germany. Among other things, he worked on the cases of Fritz Haarmann and Peter Kürten, for which he coined the term "serial killer".
