Who is Evan McKie?

Evan McKie is a Canadian ballet dancer, writer and photographer. He is a resident Principal Dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet and a Principal Guest Artist with the National Ballet of Canada. McKie is a recent guest dancer of the Paris Opera Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Tokyo Ballet, Universal Ballet and Ballet de Chile. He is also a contributor and advisory board member for Dance Magazine and a frequent writer for the Chacott brand of Japan, Shinshokan Dance Magazine, the Staatstheater Stuttgart Journal and reFlect magazine, Germany. McKie is the winner of the 2012 ApuliArte Merit prize for achievement in dance and commitment to the Arts.

After studying dance at Canada's National Ballet School, The Kirov Academy of Ballet and the John Cranko School, McKie was given his first professional job as a dancer by the Stuttgart Ballet's Reid Anderson. Promotions to Soloist and Principal Dancer followed and in 2011, McKie became the first and only Canadian to dance with the prestigious Paris Opera Ballet. The Financial Times called the performance “the sensation of the season.”

McKie has choreographed two works for Stuttgart's Noverre Society. He was one of the last graduates of the late Russian ballet legend, Pyotr Pestov.
