Who is Eyal Berkovic?

Eyal Berkovic is an Israeli former footballer. He played as an attacking midfielder and a playmaker, making 82 appearances for the Israeli national team. He is a member of the Israeli Football Hall of Fame.

He is known in Israel by the nickname Ha-Kosem.

Berkovic was well known for his vision and incisive passing as a playmaker, as well as for his temperament. He had several clashes with team-mates, most notably the Israeli footballers Reuven Atar and Eli Ohana, Kevin Keegan, and Welsh striker John Hartson. His autobiography Ha-Kosem sparked controversy with the Israeli football scene because of its criticism of many of its figures.

Graeme Souness described Berkovic as "a tremendous passer. In the last third of the field, he is the best that I've ever worked with." In 2009, The Times named him as the 10th greatest midfielder in the history of the Premier League.

He is the older brother of former footballer Nir Berkovic.
