Who was Feardorcha Ó Conaill?
Feardorcha Ó Conaill was an Irish writer.
Born at Newtown, Connamara, he was educated at Trinity College, Dublin from 1891 and was in 1902 ordained a minister of the Church of Ireland. He became Rector of Achonry in 1907 and afterwards obtained a post as lecturer in Celtic languages and literature at Queen's University, Belfast.
A fluent Irish speaker, he translated works from Persian and Arabic, and is known especially for editing the work of Peadar Ó Laoghaire. He became assistant director of Radio Éireann shortly before his death.
