Who was Felipe de Neve?
Felipe de Neve was a Spanish governor of Las Californias, an area that included present-day California, Baja California and Baja California Sur. His tenure as governor was from 1775 to 1782. Neve is considered a founder of Los Angeles, California and helped to settle Missions Santa Barbara and San José whose surrounding communities became California cities.
