Who is Gary Williams?
Gary Williams is a former footballer who played as a right-back. He played for Aston Villa and was part of their European Cup victory in 1982. He also played for Walsall, Leeds United, Watford and Bradford City. Williams was involved in the build up to Villa's winning goal in the 1982 European Cup final against Bayern Munich. A giant banner hung on the North Stand at Villa Park reproduces Brian Moore's commentary of this goal, "Shaw, Williams, prepared to venture down the left. There's a good ball in for Tony Morley. Oh, it must be and it is! It's Peter Withe."
