Who is Geir Barvik?
Geir Barvik is a Norwegian civil servant and banker.
He served as a head of department in the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, before he was appointed chief executive of the Norwegian State Housing Bank by the government in 2001. In 2010 he was appointed as the director of the Directorate of Integration and Diversity.
Barvik hails from Bø, Telemark, and has later lived at St.Hanshaugen and, since 1988, in Asker. He is married and has two children. He was formerly a member of the Socialist Left Party, but quit the party due to its opposition to the EU in the early 1990s.
