Who was Tony Taylor?
George Anthony Morgan Taylor GC, known as Tony Taylor, was awarded the George Cross for gallantry. His award was published in the London Gazette on 22 April 1952. He was employed by the Commonwealth Bureau of Mineral Resources at the time as a Vulcanologist and received his award for his work in averting a volcanic danger from January to April 1951 at Mount Lamington in Papua. He was born in Moree, New South Wales and served with the Australian forces during World War II.
