George Barrios

Who is George Barrios?

George Barrios was named vice

president, treasurer for The New York Times Company in January 2007. In

this role, Mr. Barrios is responsible for managing the Company’s

capital structure, liquidity, risk, investments and corporate financial

analysis. Until 2007, he served as chief financial officer for the

Company's New England Media Group, a diversified media organization

whose properties include The Boston Globe, BostonWorks.com, The

Worcester Telegram and Gazette, Globe Direct and Boston.com.

From 2000 to 2001 Mr. Barrios served as president and chief operating officer of

Netsilicon, a publicly traded fabless semiconductor company, and helped engineer

the sale of that company.

From 1994 to 2000, Mr. Barrios served in several financial and general management

roles at Praxair, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer. In his last role at Praxair

he had dual responsibilities as Division CFO for the global semiconductor materials

business unit and general manager for North American operations of that business.

From 1989 to 1994, Mr. Barrios held several financial management positions for HBO,

a Time Warner company, including positions in business analysis, strategic planning,

and financial operations.

He is a C.P.A. and holds a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.
