Who is George Gwozdecky?
George Gwozdecky is a Canadian ice hockey coach. He is currently an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.
He was the head coach for the University of Denver Pioneers hockey team for 19 seasons, from 1994 until 2013. The Pioneers won 2 national championships under his guidance, and won at least 20 games in each of the last 12 seasons in which he coached them. He joined the Pioneers as head coach in 1994.
He is a member of the prestigious Miami University "Cradle of Coaches", and is the only person to win the NCAA National Championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach with Denver.
He is a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is married with a teenage daughter.
