Who is Georgina Beyer?
Georgina Beyer is a trans woman who became the world's first openly transsexual mayor, as well as the world's first openly transsexual Member of Parliament, and from 27 November 1999 until 14 February 2007 was an MP for the Labour Party in New Zealand. She was also among a very small number of former sex workers to hold political office.
