Who was Gerlach Cornelis Joannes van Reenen?
Gerlach Cornelis Joannes van Reenen was a Dutch politician.
He was Major of Amsterdam from 1850-1853 and later a member of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands for Amsterdam. He served as Ministers of the Interior from 1853-1856. He was president of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands in the period September 23, 1858 - September 20, 1869. After being a minster he became a member of the Council of State of the Netherlands serving as vice-chairman from 1876-1893. In 1876 he became Jonkheer.
After the passing of king William III, the heir, Wilhelmina, was underage, and he became chairman of the regency committee.
