Who was Gilbert Affleck?
Gilbert Affleck was a British politician.
He was the son of John Affleck and his wife Neeltice, daughter of Gilbert Schape. Affleck entered the British House of Commons as a Member of Parliament for Cambridge in 1722, representing the constituency until 1727 and again from 1737 to 1741.
On 3 November 1705, he married Anna Dolben, daughter of John Dolben, at Westminster Abbey in London. They had twelve sons and six daughters. His second and oldest surviving son John sat also in the Parliament of Great Britain, while his tenth son Edmund was a rear-admiral in the Royal Navy.
