Who was Gilda de Abreu?
Gilda de Abreu was born in Paris on September 23, 1904 and died in Rio de Janeiro on June 4, 1979. She was a director, actress, singer, writer and radio presenter in Brazil. She was married to Vicente Celestino until his death in 1968.
Gilda first started appearing in theater productions in 1933, when she starred in the romantic comedy "Bonequinha de Seda" produced by Ademar Gonzaga.
She was one of the first women to direct films in Brazil, she first became successful with "O Ébrio" in 1946.
