Who is Gilles de Robien?
Count Gilles de Robien is a French politician. He is the son of count Jean de Robien by his marriage to Éliane Le Mesre de Pas. The Robiens are a noble family originating from Brittany.
In 1989, he was elected mayor of the city of Amiens, and then reelected twice. However he was defeated in the French municipal elections of 2008 by Gilles Demailly, a member of the Socialist Party.
He was Minister of National Education from August 2005 to May 2007, and a member of Parliament from 1996 to 2007.
