Who is Godfrey Bloom?
Godfrey William Bloom TD is a member of the UK Independence Party and a Member of the European Parliament for Yorkshire and the Humber.
Bloom was elected for UKIP in 2004 and re-elected in 2009. He has received attention from the British media for making remarks considered objectionable by his party leader, and for expressing a position of climate change denial.
On 20 September 2013, UKIP withdrew the party whip from Bloom after he assaulted journalist Michael Crick in the street, threatened a second reporter, and at the party's conference jokingly referred to his female audience as "sluts".
