Who is Govind Kizhepat?
A semiconductor industry veteran, Govind founded NetXen, while
serving as an entrepreneur in residence (EIR) at the venture capital
firm, Benchmark Capital. Prior to joining Benchmark, Govind was
Executive Vice President of Globespan (CNXT), a leading worldwide
provider of integrated circuits (chip sets), software, and system
designs for broadband solutions. At Globespan, Govind headed the Media
Gateway Division where he was responsible for video and audio codecs as
well as voice over packet products. In 1996, Govind founded
iCompression, and served as the company's founding CEO and Chairman.
Govind grew iCompression to be the industry leader in MPEG encoders and
voice over packet codecs before arranging the sale of the company to
Globespan in a stock deal valued at more than $400 million.
Before founding iCompression, Govind held various technical
leadership and management positions at S3, and Sun Microsystems where
he played key roles in the development of SuperSPARC and UltraSPARC
processors. Govind holds a BSEE from Delhi University, and an MSEE from
Wayne State University.
