Who was Duchess Alexandra Petrovna of Oldenburg?
Grand Duchess Alexandra Petrovna of Russia was a daughter of Duke Peter Georgievich of Oldenburg and a great granddaughter of Emperor Paul I of Russia. She married Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich of Russia, the elder, and was the mother of Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich of Russia, the younger. After the breakup of her marriage, she retired from court life and eventually became a nun.
