Who was Griffith Borgeson?

Griffith Borgeson was an influential American race car historian, described by the Society of Automotive Engineers as one of the world's preeminent automotive historians.

His most well-known work, The Golden Age of the American Racing Car, almost single-handedly rescued the memory of an entire era of brilliant race car work in the United States, an era whose memory was being lost.

Borgeson was editor-in-chief of Motor Trend magazine; he also wrote for Sports Car Illustrated magazine.
