Who is Gülçiçek Hatun?
Gülçiçek Hatun was a princess form Byzantine and the first wife of Ottoman Sultan Murad I and Valide Sultan to their son Bayezid I. She was of Greek descent. She was married to Ottoman Sultan Murad I in 1359. In her lifetime she established a religious and charitable foundation. With its revenues she built a mosque and a tomb in Bursa where she was buried.
