Who was Hal Smith?
Harold John "Hal" Smith was an American character actor and voice actor. Smith is best known as Otis Campbell, the town drunk on CBS's The Andy Griffith Show.
Smith was also the voice of many characters on various animated cartoon shorts including the Owl in the first four original Winnie The Pooh shorts. He is also known to radio listeners as John Avery Whittaker in Adventures in Odyssey. Smith died of a severe heart attack while driving and crashed into a building on January 28, 1994.
