Hans-Joachim Fassnacht is a German swimmer, Olympic medalist and previous world record holder. He was born in Baden-Württemberg. He participated at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in 4 x 200 metre freestyle relay in 1972.
He had the world record in 400 metres freestyle in 1969.
