Who was Hans Malkomes?

Hans Malkomes was a Hauptsturmführer in the Waffen-SS he was born in Bremen, Germany on 15 November 1913. He graduated SS Junkerschule at Braunschweig in 1936 with the SS Number 164 526 and the NSDAP number 2 570 587 and was posted to the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and took command of a platoon in the 14th Company LSSAH. In November 1942 he was transferred to command a platoon in the 4th Company, 1st SS Pioneer Battalion LSSAH and then finally in 1943 he was transferred to command the 2nd Company, SS Panzer Regiment 1 LSSAH. It was while in command of this company that he was awarded the German Cross in Gold and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.

Malkomes was killed in action in March 1945 at Veszprém, Hungary.

He is buried in the Mattersburg war grave cemetery block 10 row 2.
