Who was Harbans Singh Khurana?
Harbans Singh, born Karam Singh, was an Indian presenter on All India Radio from 1953 to 1988. He was well known for his comical scripts and stage plays. His best-known programs, broadcast in Punjabi, included Jagrat; Taiya Nihala, Bazm-E-Awaz, and Gurbani vichar. Singh was known also for his involvement in establishing the Chandigarh office of AIR.
Following his retirement from AIR in 1988 produced several television shows and contributed articles to newspapers. His best known television play, broadcast in Doordarshan, Jalandhar, was IK LAP SURME DI. A contemporary gave him the plaudit "itar ka pipa" for the quality of his writing.
