Who was Harro Schacht?
Harro Schacht was a German U-boat commander in World War II and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He is credited with the sinking of 19 ships for a total of 77,143 gross register tons, including the SS Alcoa Puritan and one ship damaged of 6,561 GRT.
