Who was Heinrich Bartels?

Oberfeldwebel Heinrich Bartels was a German fighter pilot in the Luftwaffe. During World War II, he was credited with 99 victories, making him a fighter ace. A fighter ace is a military aviator credited with shooting down five or more enemy aircraft during aerial combat. He was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and had been recommended for the Oak Leaves.
