Who was Henry G. Worthington?
Henry Gaither Worthington was the first United States Representative from the State of Nevada, serving in Congress during the end of the American Civil War after the Lincoln Administration pushed through legislation to grant statehood to the former Territory of Nevada.
Worthington served in the California State Assembly in 1862 before moving to Nevada. Worthington served as U.S. Ambassador to Argentina June 1868–July 1869 and concurrently as Ambassador to Uruguay October 1868–July 1869.
