Who was Henry D. Phillips?
Henry Disbrow Phillips was an American Episcopal bishop and college American football player.
After graduating from Sewanee he was ordained in the Episcopal Church and served as bishop of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia for 17 years from 1938–1954. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1959.
