Who is Herbert Bevard?
Herbert Armstrong Bevard is a Roman Catholic bishop from the United States. He is the Bishop of Saint Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands.
After converting from Presbyterianism in 1964, Bevard was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1972. He was created monsignor in 2003. He was stationed in Philadelphia as episcopal vicar for the city’s northern half. He was appointed bishop of Saint Thomas in the Virgin Islands on 7 July 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI and was ordained to the episcopate on 3 September by Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington as the Metropolitan of Saint Thomas, with the principal co-consecrators being Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of the Archdiocese of Louisville and Bishop Daniel Edward Thomas, auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia.
