Who was Herbert Schneider?
Herbert Schneider was a German U-boat commander in World War II and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He is credited with the sinking of seven ships for a total of 45,826 gross register tons and further damaging two ships of 12,479 GRT.
