Who was Homer Rainey?
Homer Price Rainey was an American college president and professor. He was born in Eliasville in Young County, Texas, and served as the president of the University of Texas at Austin from 1939 to 1944.
Rainey also served as president of Franklin College, Bucknell University, and Stephens College. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Governor of Texas in 1946, having lost the Democratic nomination to Beauford Jester of Corsicana, the seat of Navarro County.
