Who was Hugh A. Haralson?
Hugh Anderson Haralson was an American farmer and lawyer from Lagrange, Georgia after graduating from Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. He served in the state legislature from 1831-1832 and the state senate from 1837-1838. He was commissioned a major general in the Georgia Militia, 9th Division, in 1838. He represented Georgia in the U.S. Congress from 1843 to 1851. He was the father-in-law of the famous Confederate General John Gordon.
