Who is Ian Wilkinson?
Ian Wilkinson was a professional footballer who made one appearance as a goalkeeper for Manchester United in the early 1990s.
He made his senior debut for Manchester United on 9 October 1991 in the second leg of their League Cup second round tie against Cambridge United; the match finished as a 1-1 draw, giving the Red Devils a 4–1 aggregate victory. They went on to win the competition that season.
He also played for Stockport County and Crewe Alexandra. After sustaining a detached retina, he retired from football and trained to be a physiotherapist. He obtained his degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Salford in 1998. He is now a qualified doctor and lives in Manchester. Wilkinson plays crown green bowls at County level and is a middle distance runner.
