Who is Ike Dixon?
Ike Dixon was a major figure in the Baltimore jazz scene, as proprietor of the Comedy Club in that city. It was a major music venue, located at 1440 Pennsylvania Avenue, first opened in 1934. Many national figures who performed elsewhere in Baltimore gathered at the Comedy Club to party after their shows.
Dixon was also the founder of a traveling jazz band himself, created in 1920.
His son was Isaiah Dixon who served in the Maryland House of Delegates.
