Who is Imam Hafiz Masood?

Imam Hafiz Muhammed Masood is the past Imam of the Sharon Mosque, located in Sharon, MA. He joined the Sharon Mosque in 1998 and terminated on Nov. 2006. He has earned the honorary title Hafiz by memorizing the entire text of the Qur'an. Masood is a native of Lahore, Pakistan, obtaining an economics degree from Boston University. he got degree in theology from the University of Faisalabad before teaching at the International Islamic University in Islamabad. He resided in Sharon, Massachusetts. On November 15, 2006, Masood was arrested by the United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and charged with failing to properly leave and reenter the country on a student visa.

On November 21, 2006, Masood posted $7500 bond and was released to return to continue to serve his community. He was deported to Pakistan after he requested a voluntary departure. After his return to Pakistan he settled in Lahore and started a small business. He continues being a religious leader and lecturer on various themes of Islam. He is married with eight children who currently live in the US.
