Who is Irene Dalis?
Irene Dalis is an American mezzo-soprano born in San Jose, California, who had a long international career at the highest levels of world opera. In 1946 she received her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State College, where she regarded herself not as a singer, but as a pianist. Her master’s degree in music education is from Columbia University Teachers College, and she has received honorary doctorates from Santa Clara University and California State University.
