Who is Irma Serrano?
Irma Cielo Consuelo Serrano-Castro Domínguez, more commonly known as Irma Serrano and nicknamed "La Tigresa", is a Mexican recording artist, actress, screenwriter, film producer, and politician.
Thanks to her exotic beauty, hour-glass figure, and way of being controversial, coming out of the standards of the time, Serrano managed to attract the attention of directors and producers who consequently began to call her to act in different films, henceforth she created a successful acting career. Serrano's most notable films are La chamuscada, La Martina: La mujer del sacristán, and La tigresa.
As a singer, Serrano became famous for her unique "clamoring style" which was publicly lauded. Her first hit single, "El puente roto", reached number 4 on Mexico's Top Ten list of 1966. Her second hit single, "La Martina", reached number 5 on Mexico's Top 10 list of 1967.
In her later years, she was the center for multiple scandals and controversies. She has appeared in celebrity gossip magazines and television shows because of her political career as senator of her home state of Chiapas from 1994 to 1997.
