Who was Ivan Yarygin?
Ivan Yarygin was a former Soviet wrestler and Olympic champion in Freestyle wrestling. He became a coach following his competitive career and later he was the President of the Russian Wrestling Federation. He was killed in a car crash in 1997. In March 2002, a monument was dedicated to Yarygin in Krasnoyarsk. Further, a commemorative international tournament, the Ivan Yarygin International, takes place every year in Krasnoyarsk in mid-winter.
