J. Blaine Anderson

Who was J. Blaine Anderson?

J. Blaine Anderson was a United States federal judge.

Born in Trenton, Utah, Anderson received a J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 1949, and was in private practice in Blackfoot, Idaho from 1949 to 1971.

On December 1, 1971, Anderson was nominated by President Richard Nixon to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Idaho vacated by Fredrick Monroe Taylor. Anderson was confirmed by the United States Senate on December 4, 1971, and received his commission on December 9, 1971. On June 18, 1976, President Gerald Ford nominated Anderson for elevation to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit vacated by Montgomery Oliver Koelsch.

Anderson was again confirmed by the United States Senate, on July 2, 1976, receiving his commission the same day. He served in that capacity until his death, in 1988, in Boise, Idaho. Anderson died of a brain aneurysm.
