Who is Jaala Pulford?

Jaala Lee Pulford is an Australian politician. Jaala was elected as a member of the Victorian Legislative Council in November 2006 at the age of 32 representing the Western Victoria Region. As a member of the Brumby Government, Jaala served as Parliamentary Secretary for Industrial Relations and Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Development, Industry and Trade. Following the 2010 State Election Jaala was appointed Shadow Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Development.

Pulford grew up in Castlemaine and studied at Bendigo Senior Secondary College and Monash University, but left in 1994 before completing her arts degree to commence a position as an organiser with the National Union of Workers, which she held up until her election to parliament. She also served in a number of positions within the Labor Party, including junior vice-president of the Victorian branch, member of the state branch administrative committee, and member of the Labor Women's Network national executive.

Jaala has been extensively involved in the Australian Labor Party since 1990 where she has held the roles of ALP State and National Conference Delegate as well as the offices of Victorian ALP Vice-President, National Labor Women’s Network secretary and President of the ALP Women’s Policy Committee.
